Lightly Row
Put on your running shoes because we are getting ready to take off. In a short time, you will have enough tunes memorized.........memorized mind you, to entertain dad for a good 1/2 hour.
..Lightly row is a workbook with a practice chart and fill-in pages. I've written words so you can sing along as you play. Are there really words for Lightly Row? Well, now there are, so just have fun. Some students take 18 instructional times and are blank slates the whole time, then on number 19, they get up and play that song like a pro. Don't add baggage of pressure and criticism on practice session 16....trust me, you want the process to be excellent and pleasurable.
Lightly Row: Teacher Manual - a 35 page manual to teach the song "Lightly Row". A Practice Chart records progress and motivates the student to accomplish far more than they expected of themselves. A fingerboard Chart helps the student understand exactly where the note is played. A piano chart opens the student's understanding to the relationship of the violin and piano, the staff and the notes. The student colors or fills in preview notes with the name of the note. Each song starts with a preview spot...the difficult portion of the song. Next, a fingerboard is filled in according to the notes that are played in the song. Next, a completed portion of the teacher manual, colored notes, and explanation of the fingering of the song including words. A card game with the parts of the song in small digestible portions is next. 'H-A-P-P-Y AM I" (BBBBB C# D) with a happy face is just one of the cards. Next a fishing game (you supply the magnetic fishing pole) is a review of all the past tasks. Next comes the complete song in colored notation and black notation and finally, a practice chart for the week's work. For students and teachers. Student size is a 'tiny' book, and teacher size is 8"x 5.5". So Complete. A great resource.

Colored Music to Play along With
Learn the uniqueness of each note and the amazing magic that happens when you link specific colors to the notes.
This is a teaching tool.
This is not a psychological issue.
Teaching music by the use of colors, symbols, stories, rhymes,...... anyway to catch the attention of a student and link it to something they can use to retrieve it at a later time,...... is a powerful tool for teaching that will allow the student to glide into reading music and knowing the names of the notes and their sounds as their intellectual scaffolding matures. The fingerboard will come alive with specific notes rather than a dark forest of black notes.
