May Song
May Song
There are some songs that are a breather....this one is. It is easy but can be played as a harmony for Twinkle. I like to create conflict in the student's brains. It develops attention, forces them to be in charge of their thought processes and expands the brain.

Beginner Rounds
Beginner Rounds - By the time the student ends book one, he is playing Pachelbel's Canon, ...or at least working on the process. To prepare them, they play some fun rounds like "Row Row Row Your Boat" This book should be presented after Allegretto since it uses notes on the D and G strings.

Pachelbel's Canon One of the most loved wedding songs in America. I remember the first time we heard it as a family. We were sitting in a little breakfast shop along the cobblestone main street in Nantucket. Someone said, "Wow, this owner really likes this song". He was 'looping'!!!He played Pachelbel's Canon over and over again. And we loved it. It was the same trip where we walked out of the Victorian hotel we were staying in and standing on the wrap-around porch. A couple passed us. "Are you the family in the room.....?"
he asked. We told him that was us. I was slightly cringing to think maybe we were making too much noise, four kids and all. "That's the first time I shaved to Vivaldi", he said. He'd heard the music through the walls. Of course, even our music traveled with us. And you know, I don't think I ever taught some of them the Book 4 Vivaldi pieces, but I don't doubt that they could take out their violins even today and play them. Listening adds a touch of magic to learning. Don't overlook its power!
Start learning the first page of Pachelbel. This is a piece of music that we learn over many months. Memorize the first page at this point. Have fun!!
